Your foot position is vital to being able to control your posture. Your feet have to support your body weight, adapt to different surfaces, help you balance and absorb load as you walk, run, jump… Basically, they’re incredibly important and most people underestimate how important their feet are. Your feet should work like shock absorbers and if they’re not working properly because of stiffness, muscle tightness or weakness then those loads that your foot should be controlling travel up your legs and can lead to problems in other areas such as your knees, hips and lower back.

If your arches collapse it makes it extremely challenging for your knees to move with normal mechanics which can lead to pain, damage to cartilage and nerve irritation. If your arches collapse it becomes very difficult for your glutes to turn on to help stabilise your pelvis and your spine. Your feet are the foundation for your entire body.
