What we do:

TeleHealth services with physiotherapy have been shown to be extremely effective in research studies. The great news is this means our physios will be able to help you from anywhere in Australia. This is where it’s incredibly important to make sure your healthcare is in the hands of the most experienced, well-trained and talented physios like those at Sydney Advanced Physio. Our physios have a huge range of clinical experience and expertise and will be able to help you from home. Our physios have always tried to empower patients to understand more about their body and part of that involves teaching clients to feel their joints or areas with issues so they can best monitor and manage their injuries or issues. This means our physios will be able to easily transition this technique to the TeleHealth medium.

During a consultation your physiotherapist will discuss your issue with you, assess and provide advice for how best to manage it. Self-treatment strategies can be provided depending on if they are appropriate for you, what equipment you have at home, what your capabilities are, and depending on what the issue is.

Your physio can take you through a range of releases and/or exercises that are designed to help with your issue, provide rehabilitation strategies, help with office desk or home office ergonomic advice and set up and more. There is a huge amount we can do to help without you needing to come in to the clinic.

This is also a great option if you would like a second opinion, to get more information or advice about any issues you may be experiencing or if you simply can’t make it in to see us at the clinic.

While it does not replace hands-on physio assessment and treatment we will still do the very best we can to provide you with the best advice and treatment we can. There is a lot of evidence available to support specific guided exercise as an effective therapy in the treatment of a range of musculoskeletal issues. If your physio believes that they cannot help during an online consult for any reason they will let you know and arrange for your consultation fee to be refunded.

We can also use this service to replace private exercise classes.

Please note to join an on-site group class you must have had an assessment with our physios first. If you have only had an online consultation with our physio and you would like to start coming to our on-site classes you will need to come in for a 30 minute consultation to have an ultrasound and an alignment screen first. To maintain the safety of each participant you will not be able to book yourself into online group classes. Please call 02 9416 4410 to book in for group classes.

Classes:

With the wonders of technology our physios can guide you through a group Pilates class. The instructor will guide you through a range of exercises with variations that allow for people of different capabilities to work at a level that is challenging for them. We will be able to monitor your execution of these exercises and provide real time feedback.

You do not need any equipment to participate but if you have equipment like rollers, theraband, spikey balls etc the physio will help you use them. You can also use household items like a can of beans as a hand weight. Body weight exercises can be incredibly challenging even for high level athletes. We recommend bringing a pillow and a towel to these sessions.

Please see the class timetable for all scheduled classes.

If you have an existing valid class pass with classes left on it we will transfer the value balance so that you can start your classes online. After that class passes will be purchasable in a pack of 5 or 10 and you will need to pay for them by direct bank transfer which needs to clear before you start your classes.

Classes will be charged at $25/class and need to be paid for in advance. Online class passes are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.

5 class pass: $125

10 class pass: $200 ($20/class)

Duration: 55 minutes

What you need:

We will need a valid email address so that we can send you a link to a meeting and a current mobile phone number in case there are some connection issues. Generally, we use Zoom for online consultations. If you are using your Zoom on your phone during the consult you will need to download the app first and you may need to consider a stand or prop to help support the device to best enable you to follow the physios instructions and be able to give the physio a better ability to perform assessments. Prior you appointment you will be sent a link to join a meeting.

Please note we never provide staff personal mobile numbers for any reason.

If you have imaging or surgical reports we recommend that you either scan and email them to us so that they can be made available to our physios.

Payment & Health Insurance:

Please note that payment for your consultation needs to be received prior to the start of the session. This can be done via credit card over the phone (02 9416 4410) or direct transfer.

As this is a rapidly evolving situation the coverage provided for TeleHealth services may change. Some insurance companies will provide coverage for online physiotherapy consultations. The best way to find out if your health fund will provide coverage is to call them.

Currently some health funds are providing coverage for physio TeleHealth services if the user is continuing treatment for an issue they had seen the physio for in the last six months or they have a referral from a doctor for physio following an orthopaedic surgery (e.g. knee replacement), for a chronic musculoskeletal issue (e.g. arthritis), cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation or pelvic floor muscle training. These will be covered for appointments from 14/4/20-30/9/20.

Please call your health fund to ask if you are covered.

Update 14/4/20 – Click on images below to expand for more information.

Please note that we reserve the right to immediately terminate the call if the nature of the call becomes inappropriate, offensive or abusive in any way. You will not receive a refund in this instance.
