Do you require a referral?

Generally – No.

If you have had surgery we do appreciate a handover from your doctor or surgeon – particularly if there are any movement, treatment or rehabilitation restrictions.

If you have been approved for Medicare treatments on the EPC programme then you DO need to bring your referral and your EPC form your doctor filled in. Please see Billing for information on how Medicare claims are processed.

Changes to referrals

We are pleased to note that we now accept referrals for WorkCover (SIRA), Compulsory Third Party Insurance and DVA patients. We also now accept NDIS referrals. Please contact us for further details.

TeleHealth

You do not require a referral for TeleHealth physio. However, some health funds will require you to present a doctors referral in order for you to receive a rebate for TeleHealth services. You should contact your health fund directly to establish if this is the case.

We expect that there will be further developments in the area of TeleHealth consultation claims as 2021 progresses and as regulations for management of health issues during the COVID-19 crisis progresses. We strongly suggest you call your health fund to ask if you are covered but you do not need a referral in order to use the service.
